Product Description

Steel wool, also known as iron wool, wire wool, or wire sponge, is a bundle of very fine and flexible sharp-edged steel filaments. It was described as a new product in 1896. It is used as an abrasive in finishing and repair work for polishing wood or metal objects, cleaning household cookware, cleaning windows, and sanding surfaces.

Steel wool products are supplied in grades from the coarser grades 3 and 4 to the super fine grade 0000. Rust-resistant
(stainless) steel wool is also available.

The ultra fine grades like #0000 and #000 are perfect for high precision polishing work, delivering smooth, scratch free surface finish on wood furniture, marble, stone, glass and metal hardware. Medium grades #00, #0 and #1 are widely adopted for buffing, light rust removing and surface preparation before painting or coating. Coarse grades #2, #3, #4 offer strong abrasive power for heavy duty rust removal, old paint stripping, stubborn stain cleaning and rough surface treatment.
